1. ARMY AVIATION ON THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS:-

The "Manila Times" of the 25th March, 1916, states that the
aviation hangars at Corregidor are nearing completion and will soon be ready to house the new machines recently sent out by the United States Government. The old hangars are being remodelled,
and in addition new ones will be built.
The machines were built under Government contract by the Glenn L. Martin Company of Los Angelos and are Martin, Style '8',
hydro-aero planes. They are equipped with six cylinder 125 H.P. Hall-Scott engines, capable of developing a speed of 76
miles an hour. The seats are arranged in tandem for the
observer and the pilot.
2. THE CHINESE REVOLUTION 1915-16.
Attached as App. 'A' and 'B' are (1) a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Consul at Swatow to His Majesty's Minister, regarding the situation in that district and (11) a copy of a
despatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking to the Foreign
Office, regarding the situation generally in China.
A report was received on the 4th instant to the effect that
Swatow had declared independence under Ho Hoi ing. Lim Chau and
Yam Chau in South-west Kuangtung have gone over to the Kwongaai "rebels" and Luk Wing Ting was then (4th April) reported to be
almost ready to advance from Wuchow to Shiu Hing.
The personal relations between Lung and Luk seem to have
altered for the worse and it is said that Cheung Hing Ki wishes to
go to Kwongsai and associate himself with the declaration of
independence there.
On the 6th instant General Lung informed His Majesty's Consul-
General at Canton that he had been urged by the gentry and
